Archive of Education Committee Summary: Bringing together more than 30 organizational partners, NCAC's Education Committee successfully planned and conducted NCAC's first bilingual Feria del Asma/Asthma Fair on Sunday, September 25, at 3149 16th Street, NW which attracted more than 200 Latino children and adults for free asthma screenings and other resources. Using this model, NCAC conducted a second successful Feria del Asma/Asthma Fair on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at the same location. About the Education Committee This committee focuses on educating and empowering children, youth, caregivers, professionals, and the community on best practices for managing asthma. Approaches include, but are not limited to, trainings, workshops, conferences, individual and group counseling, health fairs, media outreach, distribution of tools and materials, educational partnerships, and targeted campaigns. Special annual community events have included a Feria del Asma/Asthma Fair conducted in Spanish and English; World Asthma Day asthma education fairs at Children’s Health Center (Good Hope Road) in Southeast DC and Metropolitan Police Boys and Girls Clubhouses in Northeast and Northwest DC.
